Chris Finlen was a first-year man from Northern Illinois who went for his first training camp with the Jets. In 2003, he was a member of NFL Europe's Barcelona Dragons. Before leaving for the spring European league in 2002, he was a player recruiting agent with the Chicago Bears.

The New York Jets surrendered eight players: quarterback Chris Finlen, wide receivers Carl Kearney and Derek Lee, offensive linemen Randy Chevrier and Sean Young, defensive backs Art Thomas and Jarrell Weaver and defensive tackle Kory Klein. Carl Kearney signed with the Jets as a rookie free agent. Kearney finished his collegiate career with 22 receptions for 457 yards (20.8 avg.) and two touchdowns.
